The Lower Manhattan Development Corporation announced the formal allocation of additional Community Enhancement Funds to two new community groups, the Southbridge Towers Adult and Senior Activity Center and the Lower East Side Conservancy.
"One of LMDC's proudest goals is to support outstanding community organizations and institutions and both of these groups are exactly that,” stated Avi Schick, Chairman - Lower Manhattan Development Corporation. “I look forward to working with both of these institutions as they serve the Lower Manhattan Community.
Approximately $60,000 will be provided to the Southbridge Senior Center to support the center and to help hire a social worker to work with the senior community. $215,000 dollars will be provided to the Lower East Side Conservancy to support the creation of a new educational facility on the lower east side of Manhattan.
